The first note I ever jotted down about ArtCubed was 4 years ago – in February of 2014. I was living in London studying art history and became quickly infatuated with the limitless life of art at my fingertips in such a glorious city. After attending the art fair Art14 in Olympia, London—I came home with an idea brewing.
As any entrepreneur can attest, the idea for ArtCubed has shape shifted dozens of times, sometimes even multiple times a day, to bring us to the point where we are now, on the horizon of launching our first event this May/June in LA, ARTXFOOD—an immersive art and culinary experience.
The tosses and turns of the idea aside, the initial ArtCubed lightbulb moment included these words: Los Angeles, opportunity, up & coming, contemporary, hospitality, and customer experience. The current manifestation of ArtCubed may be a different shape and size than what I originally set out to do, but the ethos in that first conception represented our mission statement in many ways. Every one of those words, four years later, still make up who we are and who we are setting out to be.
The first artist I worked with for ArtCubed called us ‘Experience Builders’, and I think he’s identified the best job title I’ve never been able to come up with for myself. I’ve been lucky enough to recruit a team of art and event world professionals, and frankly above everything else unrivaled badasses, that share with me this fundamental passion for delivering art experiences to an audience that aims to deconstruct the traditional ivory tower that art often gets trapped in. We are pioneers of ‘artspitality’. Together, we’ve wrangled the power of collective experience, ones you can touch, feel, taste, and share, to create a deeper celebration, appreciation and understanding of art and surrounding culture. The power of experiences is that it can be a feeling that sticks with you your whole life, whereas commodities inevitably come and go. And we, ArtCubed, plan to stick around. For a long, long time.
With art and culture as our backdrop, step inside the ArtCubed Experience with us to see how we’re shaking things up. For all of you who are culturally-inclined and experience-hungry, welcome to ArtCubed.
